Lazy Susan Turntables: Measure These 4 Things Before You Buy
A lazy Susan, or turntable, brings the jars and bottles at the back of a cupboard, pantry shelf or fridge within reach with one spin. It only helps if it can turn freely: wide enough, low enough and clear of the door. Use these checks before choosing one. This guide is a planning aid, not a compatibility guarantee.

1. Spin width
Measure the inside width and depth of the shelf, and the door opening it must pass through. A round turntable needs its full diameter in both directions, plus room for anything that sticks out past its edge. A square or rectangular one that turns on a fixed centre sweeps a circle as wide as its diagonal. Some slide out before they turn, so check the space the maker says they need.
2. Headroom
Measure from the shelf to the shelf or top above it. Add the turntable's height to the height of your tallest bottle or jar and leave room to lift it out. In a fridge, glass shelves can be lower than they look, and some turntables are too tall for a shelf with little headroom.
3. Door and hinges
Measure from the back of the cupboard or fridge to the inside of the door, including any door rack or hinge that sticks in. Things near the edge swing out as the turntable spins, so a bottle that clears the door at the side may hit it when it comes round to the front.
4. Rim and base
A flat turntable, or one with a low rim, can let tall bottles tip off as it spins. Compare the rim height with what you will store. Check for a non-slip base, whether the top lifts off for cleaning and what the listing says about load. If it does not say, ask the seller.
Before you order
Keep the inside width and depth of the shelf, the height above it and the depth to the door next to the turntable's diameter, height and rim height. After setting it up, spin it with your tallest things on it and the door almost closed, and check that nothing hits the door, the hinges or the shelf above. If a measurement is not published, ask the seller.
